Madison Utilities Payment Options
Madison Utilities offers several secure and convenient ways to pay your water and wastewater bill. Choose the method that works best for you — online, automatic bank draft, by phone, by mail, or in person. Keep in mind that failure to receive your bill does not excuse responsibility for payment, so please contact us if you are not receiving your bill.

Special Payment Programs
While we will always work quickly to restore water service, we do recommend that you be prepared for unexpected water outages. The general rule of thumb for storing water is one gallon of water per person per day. We recommend that you prepare for at least three days of being without water. This water will be used for drinking and sanitation. Don’t forget that your pets will need water too.
Senior Discount
If you are age 65 or over and the primary account holder, you may qualify for a discount. There are three ways to apply:
Online: Apply for Senior Discount Online
Mail: Download Senior Discount Application (PDF) and email to custserv@madisonutilities.org or mail it to 101 Ray Sanderson Drive, Madison, AL 35758. If applying by mail, please send a copy of your identification along with the form.
In Person: Visit the main office at 101 Ray Sanderson Drive to apply in person. Please bring proper identification with you.
Budget Billing
This utility bill payment program equalizes monthly payments based on previous billing history. The program is designed to allow you to pay less during the high usage months (May – October) by paying extra during low use months (November – April), thus making consistent payments year-round.
Budget billing is available if you have established a billing history by living at your present address for at least one year.
Payment Fees & Charges
Late Payment Charges
There is a 10% late fee on balances not paid on or before the due date. Mailed payments are processed on the day received regardless of postmark date. Due dates falling on a weekend or Holiday will be extended to the first workday following the due date. Any payment received by mail, online, or placed in the onsite drop-box on that first workday is considered a timely payment.
Returned Item Fees
Checks and e-checks returned to Madison Utilities for any reason will result in a returned item charge in accordance with our latest rate resolution.
