Madison Utilities provides safe drinking water and reliable wastewater treatment services to protect public health and preserve the environment. From our source water at the Tennessee River to our advanced treatment plants, every part of the system is designed to deliver clean water and responsibly manage what goes down the drain. Clean, dependable drinking water is our top priority. Madison Utilities conducts thousands of water quality tests each year to ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Our primary source is the Tennessee River, treated at the Quarry Water Treatment Plant and supported by additional well systems throughout Madison. WATER CONSERVATION

Madison Utilities encourages voluntary water conservation year-round. Smart water use helps preserve our shared resources, reduce energy consumption, and prepare for future growth.

WASTEWATER SYSTEM

Madison Utilities collects and treats wastewater from homes and businesses throughout the service area. Our Wastewater Treatment Plant removes contaminants, protects local waterways, and ensures safe discharge under Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) permits.

FOG PROGRAM

Madison Utilities’ Fat, Oil, and Grease (FOG) Program protects the sewer system from blockages caused by grease buildup. The program includes education for residents and compliance requirements for food service businesses that use grease interceptors or traps.
